Located in Southwest Mississippi on the edge of the Tunica Hills, Harriswood Plantation offers a truly unique deer hunting experience. Whether a novice, or a seasoned deer hunter, the quality and quantity of deer and antelope will surely impress any outdoorsman.

Specializing in couples and families, Harriswood provides the elements for a perfect hunt. Even if the spouse is not a hunter, there’s not a soul that doesn’t stir at the sight of a mature whitetail stepping out of the woods.

From the moment you arrive at the original plantation farm house (circa 1890), you will know you are in for a memorable trip. Deer hunting here is from comfortable two-man stands with enough room to get up and move around. The terrain is gentle rolling hills of dense hardwood forest.

In 1991, Dr. James Kroll was retained to advise on development of 650 prime acres, of the 6,000 total acres that make up the famous Woodstock Plantation. Woodstock, founded in 1980, was the forerunner of big buck game management in Mississippi. After nine years of intense game management, the result of Dr. Kroll’s business plan has come together to make the 2003-04 season the seventh full year of commercial deer hunting. Last year, we had 90% success rate and we guarantee this year will be even more spectacular.

With a "no shoot, no pay" program, our deer hunters are guaranteed to harvest only the type animal they feel worthy of the classification of trophy; and trophy animals are abundant in all species. With the buck-to-doe ratio estimated at one to one, excellent genetics, age, and nutrition, the combination is complete for some of the finest and most abundant white-tailed bucks in the region.

With the year-round nutrition program, the whitetail deer and exotics flourish in the mild Mississippi climate. Numerous Black Buck Antelope, extremely dark with 3 ½ full twist, and 19+ inch horns, are plentiful.

The genetic pool of the Axis Deer follows to an eight-point sire making these animals some of the best anywhere.

The Red Stag with a blood line directly to Scotland, are some of the Finest in the United States.


Accommodations and food in the totally restored farm house will rival the bed and breakfast industry of Natchez; complete with period furnishing and privacy. This is the perfect place to bring the "significant other" to join in the hunting experience in charm and luxury. The food, prepared by Chris Lachausse of Baton Rouge, is renowned in the area as some of the best.

Fishing is available for midday pastime. Lake Nicole, featured on ESPN’s Jimmy Houston’s Great Outdoors, is stocked with Florida Large-Mouth Bass. The pond record of 8 lb. 2 oz. will surely fall this season.

And don’t forget the kids. Dozens of youngsters have harvested their first deer while hunting at Harriswood. Just such a hunt was featured on In Pursuit, the nationally televised hunting program with Scott Liles. Scott brought his nephew on his first whitetail hunt.
